Primary Choice: NJord - Kyouya enjoys running things from the background, and manipulating others into doing what he wants in a discreet and indirect manner. He keeps his feels and motives to himself and enjoys watching how long it takes for others to catch on and come to realizations. This is the reason why he's often referred to as the shadow king for the host club.
Secondary Choice: Mimir - While he manages the host club, Kyouya is a master of manipulation and pulls the strings of the other hosts, as well as their patrons to maximize their profits and gain the most from every opportunity. He influences the themes that seemingly come to Tamaki from nowhere, tugs at the heartstrings of Renge to get top quality film and pictures, and orchestrates several other events to bring about realization and results he wants. Knowing the expectations of his father he plans to overcome them in his own way.

At a glance, Kyoya is what one would expect from the third son of an upper-class family in Japan. He is well composed, dressing professionally and sharply, with good posture and well-groomed appearance. Kyoya is respectful and speaks calmly and lovely, not appearing to be emotional and remaining pleasant, polite, and respectful in both tone and word choice. His expression is one of neutral indifference most of the time, or one of pleasant gratitude when dealing with clients or important individuals dealing with his family's business. He behaves in such a way that is expected of a third son, appearing to know his allotment and the expectations that he is to achieve in order to not shame his family and remain a valued part of it. This keen sense for business and respect comes from the upbringing that he has had, from the high expectations that have been thrust upon him as he lived in the shadows of his two older brothers.
However, with age and influences from Tamaki and the other members of the host club he has grown beyond that. He is no longer content to live within the expectations and limitations of his position as the third son of a prestigious family. He uses the intellect and business wit that he grew with to his own ends, to see that he grows far beyond what was expected, and to ensure that those that are important to him grow as well. To this end he often leads them to come to conclusions and decisions on their own through indirect manipulation and strategic placement of materials or mentioning things in passing.
This shows that Kyouya still very much prefers to keep his feelings and thoughts to himself, displaying highly introverted personality traits while trying to seem highly extroverted. He never states his goals out load, or shares his plans with others, though once they have fallen into place it becomes apparent. As shown from the beginning with his recruitment of Haruhi, and going forth with the way he handles Tamaki, and even sends the two off with the event meant to reveal the truth of Haruhi. Even with his own family he never expresses his goals to his father, who at some point recognizes Kyoya's growth and finally shows pride in the growth that he has made. For the most part, it seems that Tamaki is the one person that is able to drag everything out of Kyouya causing him to lose his calm demeanor and fly into a rage, or cracking the cool facade and bringing him to tears using a piano.
As for his motivations, Kyouya is a good person who pretends to be driven by purely pragmatic reasons. However, while he is often able to find a pragmatic justification for his actions, in the long run, it is clear that he has a strong sense of honor and doing the right thing. This is demonstrated by his lack of hesitation in stepping in to keep a woman from being swindled; even before knowing for certain who she was. It also shows in the way that he manages certain events within the host club to help others come to realizations about their feelings for one another, or in the way, he continues to update Ranaka and keep him involved in Haruhi's school life when she doesn't communicate much to her father.
In short, Kyouya is one that is more than happy to remain in the background, gathering information and using it to influence the flow of things around him. He wants to see everyone live up to their potential and be true to who they are while at the same time enjoying advancing his own ideas and goals. Appearing detached and disinterested he has his own hopes and goals and will put on a pleasant smile to advance them even if wanting to scream and yell.
